If you're looking for a Fort Lauderdale waterfront wedding venue with beautiful views, gorgeous natural light, and plenty of places for photos, The Grateful Palate should absolutely be on your list.

Located along the Intracoastal Waterway at 3003 NE 32nd Avenue, The Grateful Palate is a 4,000-square-foot event venue with indoor and outdoor spaces, waterfront views, catering, and a private dock area.

But as a Fort Lauderdale wedding photographer, I'm looking at this venue a little differently than your average venue tour.

I'm thinking about the light, the backgrounds, where we can get sunset portraits, and whether you can get a variety of photos without spending half your wedding day driving around Fort Lauderdale.

And this venue checks a LOT of those boxes.

Why I Love The Grateful Palate for Wedding Photos

Those waterfront windows!

One of my favorite things about The Grateful Palate is the wall of glass overlooking the Intracoastal.

That means the water isn't just something you see when you walk outside. It's part of the actual reception space.

For photography, that's huge.

You get beautiful waterfront views and natural light while your guests are enjoying dinner, cocktail hour, and the reception. The venue describes its setting as having panoramic waterfront views, and honestly, that's one of the biggest reasons it stands out.

And because the room itself is already visually interesting, you don't have to spend your entire décor budget trying to make a plain ballroom feel special.

The Dock Is Perfect for Sunset Wedding Photos

This is probably my favorite feature.

The Grateful Palate has waterfront dock space that can be used for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and photos. The venue also offers complimentary boat dockage.

Which means you can sneak away with your photographer for a few minutes around sunset and get those dreamy Fort Lauderdale waterfront portraits without leaving the property.

Think: Wedding dress + dock + Intracoastal + boats + sunset. Yep. I'm sold.

And from a timeline perspective, this is a big advantage. You don't have to put your entire wedding party in cars and drive somewhere else just to get beautiful waterfront photos.

There Are More Photo Opportunities Than Just the Water

The waterfront is obviously the star, but I also love that there are other areas around the venue that can give your gallery some variety.

There's the indoor reception space, waterfront windows, dock, outdoor areas, and architectural details that can work beautifully for more editorial portraits.

That means we can create several different looks without leaving the venue.

And yes, there's also a cute wall area that I would absolutely use for those slightly more editorial cocktail-hour photos.

You know the ones.

The photos where you're holding a cocktail and suddenly look like you belong in a fancy wedding magazine.

What About Parking?

This is one of those things nobody puts on their Pinterest board but every wedding guest cares about.

Parking- The Grateful Palate offers complimentary valet parking, and there are additional public parking options nearby.

For a Fort Lauderdale wedding, that's a pretty nice perk.

Your guests can actually get to your wedding without spending 20 minutes circling the neighborhood looking for a parking spot.

What Happens If It Rains?

Because this is South Florida, you absolutely need to ask this question when touring any waterfront wedding venue.

The Grateful Palate offers both indoor and outdoor event spaces, giving couples flexibility if the weather decides to be dramatic on their wedding day.

Personally, I love having a beautiful indoor option AND a waterfront option.

You get the Florida wedding experience without having to gamble your entire day on the weather cooperating.

How Much Does a Wedding at The Grateful Palate Cost?

This is one of the questions I know couples are going to Google before scheduling a tour.

Publicly listed pricing currently starts around $8,000 for off-peak weddings and $10,000 for peak dates, according to Zola. WeddingWire currently lists starting reception site fees in the $10,000 range as well.

Because pricing can vary based on date, guest count, season, catering, and what's included in your package, I would definitely request a current proposal directly from the venue before comparing it with other Fort Lauderdale wedding venues.

That said, if you're dreaming about a waterfront wedding but don't want to jump immediately into some of the city's ultra-luxury venue price points, The Grateful Palate is worth putting on your tour list.

A Few Questions to Ask Before Booking

If you're touring The Grateful Palate, here are a few things I'd ask:

What is included in the wedding package?

Ask about tables, chairs, linens, catering, bar service, staffing, setup, and cleanup.

Can we have our ceremony on the dock?

The venue offers waterfront ceremonies, but ask how the layout works for your specific guest count.

What is the rain backup plan?

Ask to actually see where your ceremony and cocktail hour would move if it rains.

How much time do we have for sunset portraits?

This is one I'd discuss with your photographer before creating your wedding timeline.

What are the current food and beverage minimums?

Online pricing can change, so get the complete proposal for your specific date.

My Take as a Fort Lauderdale Wedding Photographer

There are a lot of Fort Lauderdale wedding venues, but The Grateful Palate has something I really love:

It doesn't need a ton of help to look good.

You've got the Intracoastal.

You've got those gorgeous glass windows.

You've got the dock.

You've got sunset.

You've got indoor and outdoor spaces.

You've got plenty of opportunities for portraits that don't all look like they were taken in the exact same spot.

And you can have your ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and portraits all in one location.

For couples looking for a Fort Lauderdale waterfront wedding venue that feels elegant, photographs beautifully, and gives you that quintessential South Florida experience, I definitely think The Grateful Palate deserves a spot on your venue tour list.

And if you end up choosing it, bring me with you.

I'll happily take you down to that dock at sunset. ❤️
